Template and Dynamic Messages
Message templates
1.What are message templates?
Message templates are messages that you can prepare and store for frequent use. These templates save you time when sending commonly used messages. Whenever you want to send one such message, you can just select it and send it to one or more recipient without having to type out the whole message again. You may save up to 15 stored messages.
2.Can I change my message templates?
Yes, you can change your message templates through the Message Template Editor found in the phonebook. In the Message Template Editor:
- click on 'message templates';
- select the message you want to edit, and click the 'edit template' icon;
- type in your new message; and
- click on 'save template'.
3.How do I use the message templates?
There is a link to the message templates section underneath the SMS text window in My GO. By clicking this link you can view all your current message templates. To use one of them, click on the template of your choice, select your recipient/s and send your message.
Dynamic Messages
4.What are dynamic messages?
Dynamic messages are a quick way of addressing your recipients individually by Name, Surname or Nickname. This is particularly useful when sending the same message to a group of people without going through the trouble of individually addressing your recipients one by one. This feature will function only for those recipients that are stored in your phonebook.
5.How can I use dynamic messages?
You can use the dynamic messages in two ways:
- In the phonebook, click on the tag [Name], [Surname], [Nickname] or [Number], depending on the way you want to address your recipients; or
- When typing the message in My GO, type the the command [NAME], [SURNAME], [NICKNAME] or [NUMBER] written in title case in the place where you want it to appear within your message.
Type in the recipient's number and click 'Send SMS'. The message will automatically include the given field when the message is sent.
6.Why are the remaining characters at my disposal deducted by 20 characters each time I enter a tag?
This is because each time you use one of these tags, 20 characters are reserved to replace the tag with the actual name, surname, number or nickname of the recipient. If you select two tags, for example: 'Dear [NAME] [SURNAME], we hope you enjoy your trip', 40 characters are reserved for the tags.
7.What happens if one or more of my recipients has a name, surname, or nickname that is longer than 20 characters?
In such cases, only the first 20 characters of the name, surname or nickname are displayed.
