How can I change the modem Wi-Fi channel?

In some cases, other gadgets (such as a neighbour’s modem or other equipment) may cause interference with the Wi-Fi signal. You can change the Channel to see if that makes a difference. Please confirm your modem’s model before following the below instructions.

  1. Open an internet browser, and in the URL bar, type in ‘192.168.1.254‘ (unless you have changed the default IP address) and press the ‘Enter‘ button on the keyboard.
  2. Click on ‘Sign in‘ at the top right of the page to log in.
  3. It will ask for a username and password: use ‘advanceduser‘ as the username and ‘advanced‘ as the password.
  4. Click on ‘Sign In‘ to log in. Instead of ‘Sign In’ at the top right, you should now see ‘advanceduser‘ to confirm that you have logged in with the correct account.
  5. Click on the ‘Wireless‘ card.
  6. You will see ‘ Channel‘ under the ‘Interface‘ section with a drop-down menu.
  7. Change ‘Channel Selection‘ from ‘Auto‘ to a channel from the drop-down list. Ideally, channel 1, 6 or 11 is selected.
  8. Click on the ‘Save‘ button to save changes.
  9. Click on the ‘Close‘ button to return to the modem’s GUI homepage.

  5. Click on the ‘Wireless‘ card.
  6. You will see ‘Channel‘ under the ‘Interface‘ section with a drop-down menu.
  7. Change ‘Channel Selection‘ from ‘Auto‘ to a channel from the drop-down list. Ideally, channel 1, 6 or 11 is selected.
  8. Click on the ‘Save‘ button to save changes.
  9. Click on the ‘Close‘ button to return to the modem’s GUI homepage.

  1. Open an internet browser, and in the URL bar, type in ‘192.168.1.254‘ (unless you have changed the default IP address) and press the ‘Enter‘ button on the keyboard.
  2. In the user field, enter ‘advanceduser‘ and in the password field, enter the code found on the label attached to the back of the modem, marked as Web Access Key.
  3. Click on ‘Login‘. At the top right, you should see ‘Logged in as: advanceduser’, which indicates that you have logged in with the correct account. 4. Click on the ‘Wi-Fi 2.4GHz‘ card.
  4. Change ‘Channel Selection‘ from ‘AUTO‘ to a channel from the drop-down list. Ideally, channel 1, 6 or 11 is selected.
  5. Click on the ‘Apply‘ button to save changes.

  1. Open an internet browser, and in the URL bar, type in ‘192.168.1.254‘ (unless you have changed the default IP address) and press the ‘Enter‘ button on the keyboard.
  2. Click on ‘User‘ on the top left of the page. A new page will appear, and click on ‘Switch to another user‘.
  3. It will ask you for a username and password: use ‘advanceduser‘ as the username and ‘advanced‘ as the password.
  4. Instead of ‘user‘ at the top left of the page, you should now see ‘advanceduser‘ to confirm that you have logged in with the correct account.
  5. Click on the ‘Home Network‘ option and click on the ‘WLAN‘ under ‘Wireless‘.
  6. A new page will appear, with all the Wireless information. To change the options, click on ‘Configure‘ on the top right of the page.
  7. Change ‘Channel Selection‘ from ‘Automatic‘ to ‘Manual‘ from the drop-down list. Then select your preferred Wi-Fi channel from the ‘Channel‘ drop-down list. Ideally, channel 1, 6 or 11 is selected.
  8. Click on the ‘Apply‘ button to save changes.
