The data roaming limit is based on roaming regulations which are in place to protect you against any bill shocks that may occur due to mobile data service usage whilst roaming. To protect you from excessive data costs while roaming, your tariff plan has 2 data limits of €59 (incl. VAT) each.
If you’re travelling in countries falling under EU Zone 1 and the UK, you will first consume your EU data bundles based on your tariff plan. Once this is consumed, you will then be charged at pay-per-use rates. If you are travelling in any other zone outside the EU or UK, your roaming data bundle will not apply and you will immediately be charged at pay-per-use rates, according to the country you are visiting, as well as the roaming partner you will be connecting to.
To check which data roaming limit you are set, you can log in to MyGO and find this information under “Services”, then “Benefits”. If you’re using the GO app, this information is on the dashboard, under “Benefits”.
There are three data roaming limit options available.
The basic roaming limit gives you up to €59 pay-per-use. Once you reached 80% of your consumption, you will be notified and asked whether you would like to stop your consumption at €59 or continue with your data session until you reach the next €59 limit. Should you decide not to exceed the limit, you will not be able to carry on using your mobile data once the €59 limit is reached.
If you have opted to add an additional €59 limit, after sending OptOut to 50700295 you will once again be notified upon reaching 80% of your consumption. At this stage, you have two options:
If you choose to have an unlimited pay-per-use roaming limit, you will be notified once you have reached the €100 consumption within the unlimited pay-per-use option, as well as when reaching the €300 consumption. If you would like to limit your data roaming usage, you can do so at any time, even whilst in Malta, by sending OptIn to 50700295.
Your data roaming limit will be refreshed on the 1st day of every month.
Your data roaming limit will not be changed at any point unless you change it yourself by sending OptIn or OptOut via SMS to 50700295.
