In a world where technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, the stories of those who navigate its landscapes, overcome challenges and break barriers, often remain untold. Join us as we embark on a journey to shine a spotlight on the remarkable Women of GO, who have embraced technology and left a mark on our company’s journey.

Meet Sandy, our Product Delivery Manager.

Can you tell us about your journey in the telecom industry? What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?

My journey with GO started 23 years ago, and it marked the beginning of a diverse career path. Starting as a Billing/Customer Care Clerk, over these two decades I traversed through different departments, each contributing to my professional development. From roles like Marketing Assistant to Segment Executive, 3P Specialist, Business Analyst and Senior Product Owner, my journey led me to my current position as a Product Delivery Manager.

I opted to join the Telecoms industry due to its dynamic and ever-evolving nature, constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation. In today’s world, technology plays a pivotal role in daily life, and being an integral part of it is truly fulfilling. Witnessing the tangible value our products and services bring to our customers is gratifying, and I take pride in contributing to the realization of these offerings.

Can you share tips for achieving work-life balance in a demanding industry?

Clearly define your priorities, both at work and in your personal life. Set realistic boundaries to ensure that work commitments will not affect your personal time. Establishing these limits helps maintain a sense of control over your schedule.

Cultivate a strong support system, both at work and at home. Communicate openly with your colleagues, supervisors, and family about your commitments and challenges. A supportive network can provide encouragement and understanding during demanding periods.

Allocate time for your self-care whether doing some exercise or practicing your hobbies. This will surely contribute to your overall well-being.

How does GO foster an environment of continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies?

GO is committed to nurturing the skills of its People. We are empowered to make use of our yearly learning and development budget through the international learning platform that GO Academy introduced us to.

Can you tell us about the mentors who have helped shape your career in telecoms?

The list is endless. Many people I crossed paths at GO have helped shape my career in one way or another. Whenever I needed help or support, I always managed to find people to help and guide me. I am also blessed to be working with a team which is mainly made up of truly amazing women who all contribute positively toward the organisation.

Can you share an example of the supportive environment at GO?

In a recent project, I found myself navigating a project with entirely new processes. It was during this challenging phase that one of my colleagues, AnnaMaria, Senior Software Developer, emerged as a key figure, providing invaluable insights into the technical intricacies of the system.

AnnaMaria’s patience stood out as she guided me through the complexities, enabling me to fulfil my responsibilities. Her support was instrumental, underscoring the collaborative spirit that defines our team and fostering an environment where knowledge-sharing becomes a catalyst for success.

What advice would you give to young women considering a career in telecoms?

My advice would be to embrace the opportunity with confidence and resilience; the telecoms industry is so dynamic and the opportunities for growth and innovation are endless. Have a good mentor to guide and support you throughout this journey and never shy away from showcasing your skills and ideas; embrace this journey with a positive mindset. In a field traditionally dominated by men, your voice and contribution are essential for shaping the future of telecommunications.

These women are not just employees; they are leaders, mentors, and inspirators for their peers and the generations to come. They have weathered the storms of change, adapted to evolving technologies, and emerged not only as experts in their fields but also as role models for aspiring minds looking to carve their paths in the tech world.

Thank you, Sandy, for sharing your story with us!

It’s time to celebrate the women who are shaping the future of technology, so stay tuned!
