Meet Graziella, our Assistant Fixed Network Specialist.
Can you tell us about your journey in the telecoms industry? What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
I attended a career fair with my son and was very interested in the opportunity to become a member of GO’s apprenticeship programme. After completing my Diploma in Computer Engineering at MCAST, I received an offer from GO to work as a full-time data entry officer. One and a half years later, I applied for a job as a planning officer, and about a year ago, I achieved yet another goal: I was appointed to the position of Assistant Fixed Networks Specialist.
Why do you think the telecoms industry is an attractive field for women, and what opportunities does it offer?
Though I believe that women have always been drawn to the telecoms sector, I also believe that women are now given equal possibilities, primarily because of the telecoms industry evolving.
Can you share your experiences regarding GO’s support for women’s career development and advancement?
As a woman, I can state that GO supports my career, and you get rewarded for your hard work with advancements. In addition, GO provides a hybrid working model and flexible hours, which is a big plus! What I love the most about GO is that one of the main principles is excelling.
How has your career progressed within GO, and what opportunities for growth have you encountered?
My career at GO advanced significantly. I had various opportunities for growth, advancement, and development and I was also driven to advance in my education and widen my horizons.
How does GO support work-life balance for its people, especially for women?
To promote work-life balance, GO gives women the option of working flexible hours or even a certain number of days from home. In terms of what women need nowadays, GO is constantly one step ahead.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in telecoms?
I genuinely believe that young women should think about pursuing a career in the telecom industry because it offers endless opportunities for learning, along with a great sense of satisfaction.
What are your hopes and aspirations for the next generation of women in telecoms?
In my opinion, women have a very bright future in this industry, as the world of technology is advancing at a rapid pace. Being the largest company in this environment, GO is reshaping the future with ongoing innovation and advancement, particularly in fibre distribution through Maltese homes.
